ELIZABETH Gray

 

Started learning the tenor drum in 1974 with the Grade 3, Liverpool City Pipe Band.

In 1978 she joined the St.John Ambulance Brigade Pipes & Drums. She played with the band up until 1987 after the birth of her third child.

 

Between 1990 and 2007 she assisted the band in a playing capacity on numerous occasions when  a Bass or Tenor Drummer was needed for parades, concerts and competition. This included playing in Scotland with the band in 1995 and 2006.

 

Elizabeth was the main tenor drum tutor for the COB organization from 1990 -2007. Upon departing the organization in 2007, 7 of the 8 tenor drummers within that band had received guidance and tuition from Elizabeth.  This long term dedication was recognized by the band in 1995 when she was awarded “Life Membership”

 

Elizabeth is an Open Grade player who has won solo drumming competitions in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

 

At the end of 2007 Elizabeth took up the position as mid section tutor with the Hawkesbury City Pipe Band Inc. and looks forward to teaching players who will eventually join the Hawkesbury City Youth Development Band.

 

With her husband Barry, they run Berlsa Trading Celtic Sales, supplying, pipes, drums and uniforms to pipers and drummers all over Australia.
